
Prof. Ian Stevenson - Dados Biográficos / Biodata
Carlson Professor Ian Stevenson (1918-2007), a native of Montreal, Canada, studied first at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and then earned a B. Sc. M. D. and C. M. at McGill Universty in Montreal. Upon his graduation from medical school he was awarned the Holmes Gold Medal for the highest aggregate in al subjects forming medical curriculum.
Prof. Stevenson received training in internal medicine and psychsomatic medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, Tulane University in New York, where he also was a Commonwealth Fund Fellow in medicine.
He taught psychiatry and medicine for eight years at Louisiana State University School of Medicine before coming to the University of Virginia in 1957 as professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry.
